Winter Wonderland

After a most lovely week of visiting family for the holidays, we arrived back in Logan last night.  We were welcomed back by a land of ice, snow, and a temperature of 5 degrees.

It may be cold around here, but there is no denying it is beautiful.

Home.  Sweet.  Home.

On The Run

Went out to the car this morning and found these two escapees.

Too bad a truck pulled up a few minutes later filled with the people looking for them.

Good effort, fellas.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Easy Peasy

I made some curtains!  Yay!
And anyone could do this.  For real.  Let me tell ya.
I bought two tableclothes from Target (my love) and a rod.
The beauty of using tableclothes is
that they are already hemmed for you.
All you need to do is fold over the top
and take it on a quick trip down the sewing machine.
Seriously.
That's it.
Isn't that great?
 Like I said, easy peasy.

It's Halloween!

Need a super fast and totally free Halloween costume for a church Halloween affair?
Pink cardstock, two headbands, two toilet paper rolls, string, one blanket later,
and you've got...
 Pigs in a blanket!
(for those who didn't get it...)
For my fourth graders, I was the one and only Ms. Frizzle!
Ride on the Magic School Bus!
 And my trusted companion, Lizzy...
And Megan Fixmer...
This one is for you:
Found this at Wal-mart and HAD to buy it!
Some of the scariest moments I've ever experienced were reading this book with you in a dark room in the cabin at the North Shore.
Turns out... It's not that scary.
And tonight, more than ever, I wish to be a kid again and go trick-or-treating.
Or even just be 19 again.
Yes, I went trick-or-treating with some college buddies when I was 19.
I am that cool.
Happy Halloween!

I am now 25.
A quarter of a century old.
And I was majorly spoiled by husband, family, and students.
If you ever want to feel like your birthday is a big deal, just hang out with fourth graders.  They will let you know that they spent two weeks on the card they made you.
They will do you the greatest honor by inviting you to eat lunch with them.
They will offer you their chips and cookie and make sure you have plenty of ketchup packets.
They will make sure to sing to you before the day is over.
And they will probably feel sad for you when they realize that you will be spending your birthday at parent teacher conferences so they might show up to their conference with balloons.
Yes, they will make you feel like a million buck-a-roos.

It snowed last night.
I have decided that I must move to a place where Autumn is
much,
much,
longer.

I got to spend a lovely afternoon with this little guy
and the wonderful grandparents of mine whom he belongs to.

And another delightful snippet...

Yesterday Ty was gone all night studying for his upcoming midterms.
So I decided to put together our new nightstands from Ikea.
I got finished with one and was quite proud of my work so I sent this text to him:

Me: One night stand done!

10 minutes later...

Husband: That last text doesn't sound so good when you first read it...  Good job though!

Oops.

Finally

This is a project that I have been meaning to put together for a while and, thanks to fall break, I have finally been able to do it!  And you're probably tired of hearing about our trip to California, but it was really that good.  So if anything, enjoy the good music by Feist and Coldplay.

This place I call home

Sometimes you get home from work, look at your "Things to Do" list,
and decide to toss it aside and go romp around outside instead.

Sometimes that is just the right thing to do.

Lately

So lately I have felt totally uninspired to blog.

It's not like I haven't had a few moments where I could sit to type out a few words.

In fact, I have actually sat down and tried to write a few words.  But nothing comes.

I open a new post and....

Nothing.
Blank.
Zip.

I attempt a few words and then...
delete, delete, delete, delete, delete.

Blank page again.

Poo.

I found the way to San Jose

Remember that one time when Husband left me for 42 days?  Well, I'm sure you've figured out that he is finally Home. Safe. And. Sound.

It was decided long ago that I would drive out to get him so that we could spend some good times together out there in the lovely state of Cal-i-forn-i-ay.  Thankfully, my parent-in-laws (parents-in-law..?) and my two brother-in-laws were kind enough to accompany me out there so I wasn't driving in the desert all alone.

So here is our adventure in the form of pictures and words.  But mostly pictures because those usually do a better job.  At least in my case.

On our way we spent a night in Reno. And I discovered that A LOT of old people hang out at casinos in the morning.  It was the most hilarious thing to me.  It was like they were all thinking, "Ok, I am this old now.  Why not?"

The next morning we headed to the Sacramento Temple in Sacramento, CA.  After that we were on our way to San Jose.

For any of you married people out there that kind of miss the thrill of the dating days... Just separate yourself from your spouse for six weeks (okay, this is not actually recommended...)  But seriously, I was so nervous and excited that my mother-in-law had to drive the rest of the way.  It was so strange experiencing that feeling again.  My stomach was in knots and I could hardly stand it.  I had no idea that I would be that giddy.

Boy, did he look haaaaaaandsome!  He'll probably be so embarrassed that I wrote that, but it is the honest truth.  I could not stop staring at him.  Or hugging him.  Or sneaking kisses when no one was looking... and let's be honest- I wasn't that careful (sorry Devyn and Quinten...)

And then we were off!  I think I will let the pictures do the rest of the talking.  Because this is already getting longer than I intended.  So if you have any questions or would like me to elaborate, let me know.  And no one will, which tells me I am making the right choice and by being done talking... Right. Now.

And if you were wondering... Yes.  It was as perfect as it looks. And we already want to go back.
